Kevin Dunleavy, Produce For Kids® National Sales Director, Steps Down to Pursue Other Interests
Orlando, FL – (November 30, 2007) -- Kevin Dunleavy, the National Sales Director for Produce For Kids who has been with PFK since its inception, stepped down on November 30th to pursue other business opportunities, but will remain involved as a member of the Produce For Kids’ board of directors.
“When John Shuman, President Shuman Produce and Founder of Produce For Kids, asked me to help develop a retail promotion program to benefit Children’s Miracle Network, I never imagined that the program would grow to be such a significant factor in educating and empowering children to eat more fruits and vegetables – and to ultimately aspire toward a healthier lifestyle," says Dunleavy. “I am very satisfied with what we have accomplished since starting the PFK program in 2002, and feel the time is right, now, for me to pass the reins over to the new team that has been established to carry Produce For Kids forward."
“Kevin has been instrumental in our success,” says Shuman, “He has opened many doors for us and the program. His enthusiasm and creativity helped build a very strong foundation for Produce For Kids. Even though he is stepping away from the day to day, we are happy to still have his continued involvement in the strategic direction of Produce For Kids.”
Dunleavy's career in the food marketing business began in 1987 as co-founder with Try-Foods International. While at Try-Foods, Dunleavy developed the initial Produce For Kids retail program, which in 2003 won a marketing excellence award from Produce Merchandising. In 2003, Publix and Meijer joined the PFK program, and since that time seven other retailers and more than 30 produce sponsors have become participants with the Produce For Kids initiative. Collectively, these sponsors have raised more than $1.1 million for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in 26 states since 2002.
In 2004, Dunleavy moved to represent Try-Foods and PFK on a consulting basis and concurrently opened Super Marketing Promotions, a business that focuses on selling the Wine Selector™ interactive kiosk, to maximize reach throughout the retail market segment.
